KOLKATA: Clashes in India between supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gathering and those of a restriction party snowballed into Hindu-Muslim revolting, with three individuals killed and handfuls harmed more than two days of viciousness, police said on Tuesday.
The inconvenience in the eastern territory of West Bengal started on Sunday with equal parades by Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the state’s decision Trinamool Congress denoting the introduction of the Hindu god Rama.
Brutality broke out on Sunday and overflowed into Monday, transforming into conflicts amongst Hindus and Muslims.
Anuj Sharma, a best police official in the state, said authorities had held a crisis meeting on Tuesday and security had been increased, with revolt police deployed, and around 100 individuals confined.
“Substantial scale arrests are under way,” Sharma said.
