Police name Waikato River choking out setback
Police have revealed the character of a young Auckland woman who was cleared down the Waikato River north of Taupo when the Aratiatia Dam courses opened.
She was 21-year-old Rachael Louise De Jong.
Police say the destruction has been represented to the Coroner.
Three others were cleared down the stream with Ms De Jong yet survived.
The Aratiatia control station is a hydro-electric power station on the Waikato River, and is discovered 13 kilometers downstream of Lake Taupo.
The Aratiatia Dam conductors are opened a couple times every day in the midst of summer at 10am, late morning, 2pm and 4pm.
The scene happened not long after late morning on Monday.
